Available Positions
1. Lecturer / Senior Lecturer – Department of Demography
Applications are invited for the following academic grades in the Department of Demography, Faculty of Arts:
- Lecturer (Probationary)
- Lecturer (Unconfirmed)
- Senior Lecturer Grade II
- Senior Lecturer Grade I
Qualifications
Applicants should possess a degree specializing in Demography or another qualification accepted under the relevant University Grants Commission recruitment scheme.
Depending on the grade and degree classification, applicants may also be required to possess:
- A Doctoral Degree in Demography or a relevant field
- A research-based Master’s Degree of at least 24 months
- A full-time Master’s Degree of at least 18 months with a minimum of 60 credits, including at least 15 research credits
- Relevant university-level teaching, professional, research or postgraduate experience
Candidates applying for Lecturer (Probationary) must make a presentation before the Selection Committee to demonstrate their teaching ability.
Experience Requirements
- Lecturer (Unconfirmed): Less than six years of relevant experience
- Senior Lecturer Grade II: At least six years of relevant experience
- Senior Lecturer Grade I: At least 12 years of relevant experience, including not less than six years after obtaining the required postgraduate qualification
Relevant experience may include university teaching, professional work, recognized research or postgraduate study.
Salary Scales
Salary Code: U-AC 3
- Lecturer (Probationary): Rs. 94,400–118,400 per month
- Lecturer (Unconfirmed): Rs. 121,340–136,040 per month
- Senior Lecturer Grade II: Rs. 138,980–171,320 per month
- Senior Lecturer Grade I: Rs. 160,520–187,820 per month
Government-approved allowances applicable to the University System will also be paid.

2. Chief Medical Officer
Applications are invited for the permanent post of Chief Medical Officer attached to the Health Services of the University of Colombo.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A Medical Degree from a recognized university
- Prescribed postgraduate qualifications
- At least 12 years of experience as a Medical Practitioner
Salary
Salary Code: U-MO 2
Salary Scale: Rs. 161,905–15×3,900–220,405 per month
Government-approved allowances applicable to the University System will also be paid.
The appointment will initially be on probation for three years, which may be extended at the discretion of the University Council.

3. Electrical Engineer – On Assignment Basis
Applications are invited for the post of Electrical Engineer attached to the Capital Works and Planning Branch.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess one of the following:
- A BSc Engineering Degree specializing in Electrical Engineering from a university or higher educational institution recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka
Applicants should also be registered as an Associate Engineer or above with the Engineering Council of Sri Lanka.
OR
- Another qualification recognized as equivalent in the same field by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka
Applicants applying under the equivalent qualification category should attach proof of IESL membership.
Experience
Applicants should possess at least two years of experience in electrical engineering work in a recognized establishment.
Salary
Monthly Salary: Rs. 150,000 – Negotiable
Applicants will be shortlisted according to their qualifications and experience. Shortlisted applicants will be called for a structured interview.
