Japan Tec Full-Time Courses 2027 – AETI Apprentice Intake

The Automobile Engineering Training Institute (AETI), commonly known as Japan Tec, has invited applications for the recruitment of apprentices for its full-time courses for the year 2027.

The institute operates under the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA). Applications are accepted from eligible Sri Lankan male and female candidates.

1. Automobile Technician

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Course Fee: Rs.200,000

2. Automobile Electrician

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Course Fee: Rs.200,000

3. Machinist / CNC

  • Duration: 3 years
  • Course Fee: Rs.170,000

4. Automobile A/C Technician

  • Duration: 2 years
  • Course Fee: Rs.70,000

5. Automobile Tinker

  • Duration: 1½ years
  • Course Fee: Rs.30,000

6. Automobile Painter

  • Duration: 1½ years
  • Course Fee: Rs.30,000

7. ICT Technician

  • Duration: 1 year
  • Course Fee: Rs.40,000

A limited number of evening-course places may be offered after the daytime intake. An additional fee of 50% will be charged for evening courses.

Educational Qualifications

Automobile Technician, Automobile Electrician, Machinist/CNC and Automobile A/C Technician

Applicants should have passed six subjects at the G.C.E. O/L Examination, including:

  • Sinhala
  • Mathematics
  • Science

The required passes must have been obtained within no more than two sittings.

Automobile Tinker and Automobile Painter

Applicants should have passed Grade 8 at a government school or a government-recognized school.

ICT Technician

Applicants should have passed six subjects at the G.C.E. O/L Examination, including:

  • Sinhala Language
  • English Language
  • Mathematics

The passes must have been obtained within no more than two sittings.

Age Requirement

Applicants must be not less than 16 years and not more than 25 years of age as at 01 January 2027.

Selection Process

Eligible applicants must sit for a one-hour aptitude examination consisting of Mathematics and General Knowledge.

The examination can be answered in Sinhala or English. However, course instruction will be conducted only in Sinhala.

Candidates will be invited for interviews according to the marks obtained at the written examination.

Certificates

Candidates who successfully complete their training and final assessments will receive:

  • Automobile Engineering Training Institute Certificate
  • National Vocational Qualification Level 4 Certificate issued through the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission

  • Financial assistance for selected trainees experiencing economic difficulties

  • Library and canteen facilities
  • Concessionary SLTB season tickets

Scholarships may be provided to selected trainees from low-income and Aswesuma beneficiary families.

Candidates with hearing or speech impairments may apply for the courses specifically identified for them in the official notice.

Examination Fee

A non-refundable examination fee of Rs.1,000 must be deposited at the People’s Bank, Dematagoda Branch.

Payments made through online banking or Cash Deposit Machines will not be accepted.

The payment receipt must be attached to the application.

How to Apply

Applicants can apply for up to three courses by indicating their choices in priority order.

The completed application should be submitted with:

  • Copy of the applicant’s National Identity Card
  • Original examination-fee deposit receipt
  • Completed official application form

Applicants currently following a full-time training programme under NAITA are not eligible to apply.
