Required Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency issued by the maritime administration of Sri Lanka, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, India, Pakistan, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa or Ireland.
Certificates issued by the maritime administration of another country may also be accepted where Sri Lanka has entered into a bilateral agreement concerning certificate recognition.
Required Experience
Applicants must have at least two years of experience as a Chief Engineer aboard a sea-going merchant vessel powered by a main propulsion engine exceeding 3,000 kW.
General Requirements
- Applicants must be Sri Lankan citizens.
- Applicants must possess an excellent character.
- Applicants must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position.
- Selected candidates must be prepared to serve in any part of Sri Lanka.
- All qualifications must be completed by the closing date.
- The required age limit is 30 to 45 years as at the closing date.
Salary Scale
The applicable salary scale is SL 1-2025:
Rs. 82,150 – 10 × 2,400 – 8 × 2,940 – 17 × 3,900 – Rs. 195,970.
Selection Process
Recruitment will be based on the results of a structured interview conducted by a panel appointed by the Public Service Commission.
Marks will be awarded for additional educational qualifications, professional qualifications, additional experience, contributions to the maritime field, computer skills and performance at the interview.
