MSc in Telecommunications 2027

The Department of Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering of the University of Moratuwa invites applications for the 2027 intake of its MSc in Telecommunications programme.

The programme is designed for practising engineers and other eligible professionals who wish to strengthen their knowledge, technical skills and career prospects in telecommunications and related engineering fields.

It also provides an academic foundation for candidates interested in advanced research in telecommunications.

Programme Duration

Students may select one of the following study options:

One-year full-time MSc programme
Two-year part-time MSc programme

International students are generally eligible for the full-time MSc option. Applicants should confirm the applicable arrangements with the programme administration before applying.

A BSc Engineering degree from the University of Moratuwa in a relevant field, as accepted by the Faculty and approved by the Senate; or
Another engineering degree considered relevant and equivalent to the above qualification by the Faculty and approved by the Senate; or
A minimum three-year full-time degree from a recognised university in a relevant field, together with at least one year of relevant post-qualification experience and successful performance in the programme’s placement examination; or
A relevant professional qualification from a recognised professional institution, together with at least one year of appropriate experience obtained after completing the qualification.

The Faculty and the University Senate will determine the relevance and acceptability of qualifications and professional experience.

Selection Process

Applicants may be assessed based on their academic or professional qualifications, relevant work experience and other programme requirements.

Certain applicants, including candidates applying with a three-year degree or through a professional qualification route, may be required to sit for a placement examination.
