Wayamba University Diploma in Food Technology 2026/2027 – 2nd Intake

Wayamba University of Sri Lanka invites applications for the second intake of the Diploma in Food Technology programme for the 2026/2027 academic year.

The programme is offered by the Department of Food Science & Technology, Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries & Nutrition. It is suitable for school leavers, food-industry employees, entrepreneurs and others interested in obtaining a recognized qualification in Food Technology.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:

GCE Advanced Level – Science or Technology Streams

A minimum of three passes in one sitting in any of the following GCE Advanced Level streams:

Biological Science
Physical Science
Technology

Two passes in one sitting in the Biological Science, Physical Science or Technology stream, together with at least one year of working experience in a food-related industry.

GCE Advanced Level – Commerce or Arts Streams

Three passes in one sitting in the Commerce or Arts stream, together with at least three years of working experience in a food-related industry.

NVQ Qualification

Successful completion of an NVQ Level 4 qualification, equivalent to GCE Advanced Level, in Food Science or Food Technology.

Other qualifications recommended by the Board of Study and accepted by the Senate of Wayamba University may also be considered.

Selection Method

Applicants who satisfy the admission requirements will be called for an interview.

Admission to the programme will be offered to candidates who successfully complete the selection process.

Duration and Commencement

The programme will be conducted over one academic year during 2026/2027.

The programme is scheduled to commence in October or November 2026.

Medium and Mode of Instruction

The medium of instruction is English.

The programme will be delivered through Open and Distance Learning.

Online academic sessions will be conducted on Saturday evenings and Sundays.
Practical sessions at the University will be conducted on Sundays.
Examinations will be held on Sundays.
Learning materials will be provided through the Learning Management System.

Course Fee

The total course fee is Rs. 152,000.

The payment structure is:

At Registration: Rs. 52,000
First Instalment: Rs. 50,000
Second Instalment: Rs. 50,000
