Qualifications for External Candidates
Applicants must possess one of the following combinations of qualifications:
Option 01
A four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka, together with:
- Corporate Membership or Charter of a professional body recognized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka; or
- A postgraduate degree at Master’s level.
Option 02
- A four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a university recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka;
- A postgraduate degree at Master’s level; and
- Corporate Membership or Charter of a professional body recognized by the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.
Experience Required
External candidates must possess 20 years of experience after obtaining the first degree in a reputed organization.
This experience must include:
- At least 10 years at Senior Management level; and
- Five years of post-charter experience.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
Internal candidates must possess five years of experience as a Deputy Director General at NERDC.
Age Limit
Applicants must be between 30 and 50 years of age.
The upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates or employees of Government Corporations, Boards and the Public Sector.
Salary and Benefits
The applicable HM 2-3 salary scale is:
Rs. 173,000 – 12 × Rs. 4,850 – Rs. 231,200
The selected candidate will also be entitled to government-approved allowances, including professional, communication and cost-of-living allowances.
Additional benefits include:
- A 15% NERDC contribution to the Employees’ Provident Fund
- A 10% employee contribution to the Employees’ Provident Fund
- A 3% NERDC contribution to the Employees’ Trust Fund
- An assigned vehicle maintained by NERDC or an approved transport allowance of Rs. 50,000
- Fuel allowance according to the relevant government circulars
- Reimbursement of medical expenses under the approved NERDC medical scheme
- Other government-approved allowances and privileges
