Research Project
The selected candidate will be required to register for an MPhil degree in Physics or Materials Science at the University of Jaffna.
The candidate must engage in full-time research on the project titled:
“Explorative, Economic, and Efficient Perovskite Based Energy Harvesting Devices”
The Research Assistant will also be responsible for:
- Conducting full-time research
- Preparing project progress reports
- Preparing research publications
- Assisting the Principal Investigator with project-related activities
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess one of the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Physics with a minimum GPA of 3.0
OR
- A Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Chemistry with a minimum GPA of 3.0
OR
- A Bachelor of Science degree with Physics as a subject and an MSc in Materials Physics
Previous research experience in Materials Science or Perovskite Solar Cells will be considered an added advantage.
Expected Technical Skills
Applicants are expected to possess knowledge or practical experience in:
- Synthesis and fabrication of perovskite materials for solar-cell applications
- Material-characterization techniques
- Thin-film fabrication
- Structural characterization
- Spectroscopic characterization
- Electrical characterization
Priority will be given to applicants possessing relevant experimental experience.
Salary
The applicable fixed monthly remuneration depends on the candidate’s qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a Class and MSc: Rs. 80,000
- Bachelor’s degree with a First Class or Second Class Upper Division: Rs. 70,000
- Bachelor’s degree: Rs. 60,000
The remuneration will be paid according to the rates approved by the National Research Council.
Appointment Duration
The duration of the Research Assistant appointment is 24 months.
