Inland Revenue Service Grade III Exam 2026 – Age Limit & Closing Date Amended
An important amendment has been issued regarding the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Grade III of the Sri Lanka Inland Revenue Service – 2026.
The Public Service Commission and the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development have revised the age limit and extended the application closing date of the recruitment notice originally published in Gazette No. 2,500 dated 31 July 2026.

Revised Age Limit
Applicants must be not less than 22 years and not more than 35 years of age as at 31 August 2026.
The revised age requirement is satisfied only if the applicant’s date of birth falls within the following range:
- Born on or after: 31 August 1991
- Born on or before: 31 August 2004
The maximum age limit applicable to applicants employed in the Public Service or Provincial Public Service is also 35 years.
Public Service applicants should not have received disciplinary punishments under Public Service Commission Circular No. 01/2020.
Extended Application Closing Date
The closing date for receiving online applications has been extended to:
11 September 2026
Applicants who satisfy the revised age requirement can submit their applications through the official online examination application system before the extended closing date.
Eligibility Date Remains Unchanged
The date used to determine whether applicants satisfy the required educational, age and other qualifications remains unchanged as:
31 August 2026
The extended application deadline does not change the qualification-effective date.
Other Conditions
All other qualifications, examination requirements, application instructions and appointment conditions contained in the original Gazette notification remain unchanged.
The original recruitment includes 200 Grade III vacancies in the Sri Lanka Inland Revenue Service.
