1. Available Positions and Salary Scales

Salary Note: Salaries will be paid according to Schedule II of Management Services Circular No. 01/2025. The published scales should not be interpreted as guaranteed immediate starting salaries.

2. Additional Director General

Category: Senior Manager (HM 2-3)

Monthly Salary Scale: Rs. 173,000 – 12 × 4,850 – Rs. 231,200

Age Limit: 35–55 years.

The upper age limit does not apply to internal candidates.

External Applicant Qualifications

Applicants must satisfy one of the following pathways.

Option 1 – Degree, Research-Level Postgraduate Qualification and Experience

A UGC-recognised Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject area related to the position.
A two-year research-level postgraduate degree in Education.
At least 20 years of managerial-level post-graduation experience in government institutions, public corporations, statutory boards or recognised higher education institutions.
At least eight years of the above experience must be at senior managerial level.

Option 2 – Degree, PhD and Senior Management Experience

A UGC-recognised Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject area or a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Degree.
A PhD in Education.
At least eight years of excellent senior managerial-level service after obtaining the PhD in an eligible government, public corporation, statutory board or recognised higher education institution.

Internal Applicant Qualifications

Three years of satisfactory service as Deputy Director General (HM 2-1) at the National Institute of Education.
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage human and other institutional resources effectively.

3. Technical Officer (Electrical)

Category: Junior Manager (JM 1-1)

Monthly Salary Scale: Rs. 72,650 – 10 × 1,360 – 18 × 2,040 – Rs. 122,970

Age Limit: 22–45 years.

Applicants must satisfy one of the following qualification pathways.

Option 1 – Degree

A degree in the relevant field recognised by the University Grants Commission.

Option 2 – NVQ Level 7

An NVQ Level 7 certificate in the relevant field issued by a technical or vocational training institution recognised by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).

Option 3 – NVQ Level 6 with Experience

An NVQ Level 6 or higher qualification in the relevant field from a TVEC-recognised institution.
At least five years of relevant experience in a government institution, government corporation, board, statutory institution or reputed private institution.

Option 4 – NVQ Level 5 with Experience

An NVQ Level 5 or higher qualification in the relevant field from a TVEC-recognised institution.
At least ten years of relevant experience in an eligible government, statutory or reputed private institution.

4. Technical Assistant

Category: Management Assistant – Technical (MA 2-2)

Monthly Salary Scale: Rs. 50,540 – 10 × 540 – 7 × 630 – 4 × 1,080 – 20 × 1,280 – Rs. 90,270

Age Limit: 22–45 years.

Applicants must satisfy one of the following qualification pathways.

Option 1 – NVQ Level 5

An NVQ Level 5 certificate in the relevant field issued by a technical or vocational training institution recognised by TVEC.

Option 2 – NVQ Level 4 with Experience

Where NVQ Level 5 courses are unavailable:

An NVQ Level 4 or higher certificate in the relevant field from a TVEC-recognised institution.
At least ten years of post-qualification experience in the relevant field in a government institution, government corporation, board, statutory institution or reputed private institution.

5. General Eligibility Conditions

Applicants must:

Be citizens of Sri Lanka.
Be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position.
Be capable of serving anywhere in Sri Lanka.
Be of excellent moral character.

6. Employment Benefits

The advertised positions are permanent.

The following contributions and benefits are specified:

Employee EPF contribution: 8% of salary.
