Sri Lanka Navy Artificer Sailor Recruitment 2026 – Regular Naval Force

The Sri Lanka Navy has invited applications from eligible male Sri Lankan citizens for recruitment as Artificer Sailors in the Sri Lanka Regular Naval Force.

Selected candidates will follow a three-year full-time National Diploma in Technology programme offered by General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University or the Sri Lanka Naval Institute of Technology.

Available Engineering Streams

Applications are accepted for the following National Diploma in Technology streams:

  1. Marine Engineering
  2. Automobile Engineering
  3. Electrical Engineering
  4. Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering
  5. Hull Repair and Ship Construction Engineering

The training programme will be conducted on a full-time basis for three years.

General Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Be male citizens of Sri Lanka
  • Be between 18 and 24 years of age on the closing date
  • Have a minimum height of 5 feet 5 inches or 165.10 centimetres
  • Have a Body Mass Index between 17 and 27
  • Have a minimum chest measurement of 32 inches or 81.28 centimetres
  • Possess STD II colour vision
  • Have 6/6 visual acuity without spectacles or contact lenses

Candidates with distant vision of 6/12 that can be corrected to 6/6 may be considered according to the applicable medical requirements.

Applicants must be unmarried. Selected candidates will not be permitted to marry while undergoing training.

Educational Qualifications

GCE Ordinary Level

Applicants should have passed six subjects at the GCE Ordinary Level Examination in no more than two sittings.

The subjects must include:

  • English
  • Science
  • Mother Tongue

A Credit Pass in Mathematics is also required.

GCE Advanced Level

Applicants should have satisfied one of the following requirements:

  • Appeared for the GCE Advanced Level Examination in the Physical Science stream

OR

  • Appeared for the GCE Advanced Level Examination in the Biological Science stream

OR

  • Obtained Simple Passes in Science for Technology and Engineering Technology under the Technology stream

Salary and Allowances

The advertised monthly payments include:

  • Basic Salary: Rs. 47,834
  • Cost-of-Living Allowance: Rs. 17,800
  • Uniform Cleaning Allowance: Rs. 350
  • Hardline Non-Operational Allowance: Rs. 600 after basic training
  • Special Allowance: Rs. 1,000
  • Special Additional Allowance: Rs. 2,400
  • Net Monthly Pay: Rs. 69,984

A ration allowance of approximately Rs. 29,025 may be paid where applicable. The approximate gross monthly payment, including the ration allowance, is Rs. 99,009.

Other operational or service-related allowances may be paid according to the applicable Navy regulations and entitlements.

Selection Procedure

Eligible applicants may be required to complete the following stages:

  1. Preliminary medical examination
  2. Interview before a Selection Board
  3. Physical endurance test
  4. Final examination by a Navy Medical Board

Physical Endurance Test

Male applicants should complete:

  • 1,600-metre run within nine minutes
  • At least 12 push-ups within one minute
  • At least 10 sit-ups within one minute

Interview information will be communicated only through WhatsApp. Applicants should therefore provide an active mobile number that can receive WhatsApp messages.

Training and Service Conditions

Selected candidates will receive uniforms, accommodation and meals during training according to applicable Navy arrangements.

Candidates may be required to serve:

  • Anywhere in Sri Lanka
  • Within Sri Lankan sea areas
  • In a foreign country when required

Selected candidates will be subject to Naval Law and other applicable service regulations.

A candidate who leaves the training programme or is dismissed for reasons attributable to them may be required to reimburse the training expenses incurred by the Government.
